Warehouse Management System
Millard Refrigerated Services has found what it takes to be an industry leader - the right tools, the right people and the capability to serve each customer's ever-changing needs. Millard has excelled in these areas by using the power of technology.
Electronic Data
Millard's commitment to real-time technology
provides integrated, innovative solutions to total warehouse /
distribution / transportation challenges for immediate customer
request response. The first example of this commitment is Millard's
Wide Area Network (WAN) which links customers with Millard
distribution centers and corporate facilities. The WAN allows direct
access and gives customers real-time access to Millard's system to
instantly submit orders, receive "up to the minute" inventory
reports and track their product through each stage in the
distribution process.
Millard's latest technology effort utilizes the power of the
internet. Customers can now receive the same real-time reporting
they get from the WAN via the internet.
Inbound and Outbound Orders
The capability of radio frequency scanning enables Millard to process incoming shipments quickly and efficiently. Upon arrival, a worker assigns a pallet ID number and the system identifies a warehouse storage area closest to a pick zone. Customers can track their products through inbound, outbound and inventory stages by simply typing in the ID number. Scanning verifies the customer, the product and the production or "sell by" date for instant quality control. Scanning also provides billing totals and case counts for inventory purposes...
Outbound
Scanning technology also allows Millard to fill orders quickly, working in real-time technology. When the customer submits an order through either direct attach or EDI, they are committing the product in real time. Since Millard receives the order instantaneously, orders can be placed as late as eight hours before shipment. Other warehouses can require 48 hours notice. Real-time technology reduces the number of order changes and enables the customers to add to their orders efficiently.
Inventory Management
Radio frequency scanning eliminates most
inventory challenges by eliminating the delays of data input. The
technology allows Millard to claim extremely high accuracy in order
selection.
Customers who aren't satisfied with their own inventory system can
take advantage of Millard's system. The Warehouse Management System
gives customers access to real-time, accurate inventory and activity
reports of product, at any stage of distribution, for all Millard
locations. Customers can even review receiving, shipping and
inventory reports from the previous year.
