OMAHA – April 11, 2013 –Millard Refrigerated Services, a leading refrigerated warehousing and distribution services company, today announced it is dedicating substantial resources to developing its property in Theodore, AL. The 300-acre Millard Maritime^® facility, which includes a 1,600 ft. wharf and rail, interstate and barge access, will increase its focus on diversified cargo and shipping activities.

Millard will invest in rail and property infrastructure to accommodate the handling of new export cargo like aggregates, iron ore fines, wood and non-hazardous chemicals. The company will also dedicate resources to increase its growing import and export business, while preparing to handle additional cargo.

“We’ve determined there is a better business opportunity for Millard Maritime to utilize the facility with a wide array of new and existing commodity lines, and developed a master plan for the property that takes advantage of its full freight handling capabilities. We are now starting to execute that plan and believe it will result in a very vibrant operation within the next few years,” said Lance Larsen, President & CEO of Millard Refrigerated Services.

As part of the process to renovate the property, the current workforce will be reduced. The affected workers are being encouraged to apply for openings at other Millard locations. The remaining team members will focus on non-refrigerated business at the port and other maritime activities, as well as on readying the facility for its new lines of business.

OMAHA – February 4, 2013 –Millard Refrigerated Services, a leading refrigerated warehousing and distribution services company, today announced the expansion of its distribution center in Attalla, AL following the signing of a multi-year contract with a national food manufacturer. Millard’s construction unit designed and built the new space, and the company added 16 employees during the building and is adding seven more now that it is completed.

Millard added 110,000 sq. ft to the facility’s existing 197,000 sq. ft. for a total of 307,000 sq. ft. The new space includes 22 truck doors, raising the building’s total number of doors to 51, and there are two new rail doors for a total of 10. A mechanics shop for forklifts and other systems and a conference room have also been added.

“We expanded the Attalla facility with the needs of our customers and their customers in mind, so all of our added capabilities will help them sell more product more efficiently. The Attalla facility, which was originally opened in 1991, features a two-stage ammonia refrigeration system, five blast freezers with a combined capacity of 520,000 pounds daily, equipment to handle all varieties of frozen and refrigerated products and automated order pick services. Located within a few hours of most of the Southeast US, the building also has exporting and packaging services and a USDA-approved inspection room.

COLUMBIA, S.C. – December 19, 2012 – Millard Refrigerated Services today announced plans to develop and operate a new cold storage distribution facility in Charleston County. The $42 million investment is expected to generate 87 new jobs.

“The team at Millard is excited about the business opportunities with our new operation in Charleston County. The facility will give us access to the world-class port in Charleston and provide an efficient hub for our customers along the East Coast and throughout the Southeast. Millard Refrigerated Services will construct a state-of-the-art cold storage facility in the Palmetto Commerce Park, located at 7748 Palmetto Commerce Parkway, North Charleston. The company will use the facility to freeze and store poultry, pork and beef products that will be exported to foreign markets.

“We celebrate Millard Refrigerated Services decision to put down roots in South Carolina with a $42 million investment that will create 87 new jobs. Millard Refrigerated Services expects to begin work on the building in the spring of 2013, and start operations by 2014.
